Hectic Travel

As soon as I started school two months ago, my friend often asked me what did I do in the youth exchange program. Some of them thought that I was just hanging around, just having fun and traveling somewhere interesting. Well, in some part that was the part of the program that people can only see from the surface, deep down in the core, youth exchange program has a lot more to offer, something that make your eyes opened, make your ear listen clearly, make your skin feel a new sensation, make your nose smell a new scent, and your tongue taste new taste. The experience that you can never explain unless you face it.
Some of them also asked me how many hours it takes to get to Canada. As long as I can remember, it takes about nine hours to Doha, Qatar (Transitted), and we had to wait for about three hours to take another flight to montreal, Canada. It took about 13 hours 40 minutes or well, just count it as 14 hours. Fourteen plus nine, equal to twenty three hours, plus another connecting flight to halifax, about two and a half or almost three hours. And remember, there was a difference in time between those places. Indonesia and Canada for example, it has about twelve until fifteen hours difference, so the whole flight, transit, and connecting flight took about a day (in fact we experienced a 33 hours for traveling but we still count it as more or less, 24 hours.)
It was not as horrible as I thought, because we traveled in a large group, we were facilitated by the best entertainment in the plane, and the most important thing is we have our own excitement because we know we will have a great adventure ahead. The worst thing is that we have to use our formal attire, which is really hot and heavy, and we have to sit, almost all the time.

Halifax - Depok Team ICYEP 2012

Here’s the picture when we departed from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Indonesia. My first experience to go abroad, too excited.

We’re departed from Jakarta, October 5th 2012, 01:something a.m

Transitted in Doha, Qatar. October 5th 2012, arrived 07:something a.m, departed to Montreal about 09:something a.m

Arrived in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, October 5th 2012 18:something p.m, departed to halifax, about 20:something p.m

Arrived in Halifax, October 5th 2012 , 23:something p.m

Finally we went out of the airport building and feel the fresh-freezing air of Halifax. We were overwhelmed by the steam that came out from our mouth because of the difference temperature of the air.

Then we stayed at Quality Hotel, Halifax, getting ready for the next day, the first day of the program.
