10th day : weekend with my host family, first Indonesian menu in the house

October 20th 2012

It was weekend. My host mother, Evelyn brought us (Yen and I) to Value Village, a second hand store near Bayers Lake, Halifax. I've heard from the the other Indonesian participant that you can find a nice boots or coat there with a low price, so I suggest my host mum to bring us there. I bought the boots, a cardigan and a sweat pant. I really need those things, to protect me from the super cold weather of Canada.

Later on that day, Rob and Evelyn brought us to visit Herrington Cove, Ferguson Cove, and York Redoubt Fort. We hike, we took pictures, and that day was a lot of fun. Then that day, I realized, anything could happen in this program, yesterday was a low-low day, and today was a day with a lot of fun. So, I am sure the road ahead is going to be challenging and winding.

Later on that day, I cooked Indonesian food for dinner. I cooked Nasi Uduk, which is rice that is mixed with coconut milk, lemongrass, and a little bit salt. I also made Chicken satay, Bakwan (deep fried fritters) and Yen made grilled vegetables.

We have our special guest that day, Becky (another Becky, not Evelyn’s niece, but Evelyn’s good friend). Becky is a nice person with friendly personality. One thing I remember about her, she brought her own soda for dinner. She likes it very much.
