So I woke up earlier to have a super
early breakfast called Sahur for my Fasting or Shaum. I had penne, toasted
bread with beef, salad leftover, and four big glasses of water. That’s my
energy for the whole day. When I am about to put the dishes in the dishwasher,
I found out that the dishwasher was filled with clean plates and stuffs, so I
have to put them in the cabinet before I can put the dirty dishes in it.
Unfortunately, the sound of plates and glasses were too annoying and woke my
host mum up. She asked me did I feel not well so I have to eat something in
kitchen, or am I too hungry that night. I explained to her that it was because
I need to eat or have Sahur for my fast, and I also explained to her, the
reason why I fast is because of my religion. She understood and said that she
was concerned because I was sick yesterday, so she was afraid that I need
something. I apology to her, because I already wake her up, or even scared
her, because it is possible that she might think that there is a robber in the
kitchen, lol.
As usual, I wait for subuh prayer time,
and then sleep for a moment, cleaned my room and getting ready to go to work. I
missed the bus. It was an unpleasant feeling, when you saw the bus passes
through and you was about to arrive to the bus stop. Oh well, I have to wait
for another bus, in fifteen or even twenty minutes. It was so cold.
It was not a hectic day in my work
placement. Ariane and I started to talk more and more, and I learned something
really important from her that day. To give someone a chance before we judge
them. Jillian, my work supervisor gave me some muslim apparel, because
apparently, none of the residents is muslim, and so far, the stock for muslim
apparel is plenty.
After work, Ariane and I were separated.
She went to her house before she go to St. Joseph Mckay School, but I went
directly to the school after work. We wil have a Saman Dance performance there.
I walked via Gottingen street, and finally, I found the sign that I got for my
scavenger game, it was on the gate of a building, museum of army or something.
Haha! Finally! Second lesson that I learned today, you will find something that
you looking for, maybe not today, but you will find it anyway, when you don’t
look for it anymore.
I arrived at St. Joseph McKay school,
and I did not see anyone, and I was too hesitant to knock or enter the
building, so I waited outside, and decided to go for a walk. I saw a very
beautiful-classic shops complex near the school, it almost look like shops complex in Paris or Italy that I saw on TV. Then I decided to go back to SJAM, and saw
Brad enters the building, so I follow him and finally entered the building.
Brad’s gone. I asked the women in there and she showed me the room where my
friend already gathered.
I did not bring any meal to break my
fast, so I asked Wilma, my supervisor to accompany me to go to the nearest Tim
Hortons, to buy my favorite menu, French Vanilla and everything bagels with
cream cheese and garlic.
We break our fast, and we also
celebrated Ichal’s birthday, so we also ate a delish birthday cake! Yeaay!
After that, we practiced Saman Dance one more time before we perform.
That was
our first Saman Dance performance in Canada! Those kids were amazed by our
performance, “Wow! Whats that clapping dance? It’s so cool!”, they said.
After we performed, we danced a little
bit in the hall, because they have DJ and those kids invited us to dance.
Brad and Wilma drove Terry and I home,
while the other participant decided to hang out. I went back home earlier
because I have to make “opor ayam” the signature dish of every Eid Mubarak in
Indonesia.
